I hope! Two big games coming up for the conference this week as Stanford will visit Notre Dame in a top ten battle while the Huskies will host the 20th-ranked BYU Cougars. Sitting at 12-14 on the season, I could use some luck.
#7 Stanford @ #8 Notre Dame
Biggest game of the week for the Conference of Champions, as the Cardinal aim to knock off a fellow top ten side after inching out a victory against Oregon. Three of Notre Dame’s four victories have come by a combined 22-points until the 30-point win against Wake Forest during Week Four action. With both sides needing a win to try to catch the attention of the committee, this isn’t one you want to miss.
Prediction: 28-24 Stanford holds on by their teeth, despite being +5.5.
#11 Washington vs #20 Brigham Young
Since an opening week loss, the Washington Huskies are yet to drop a game as their hopes for a playoff slot remain alive, albeit on the ropes. A victory over a gritty, and ranked, Brigham Young side will help inch them towards the goal. While technically an independent, BYU may as well just join the Pac-12 as the Huskies will be three of their four Pac-12 foes on the season, having already beat Arizona while losing to Cal.
Prediction: 42-17 Washington wins going away, hoping to impress the committee and covering the -17.
#19 Oregon @ #24 California
Both sides looking for their first conference win, as Oregon lost in overtime to the Cardinal while the Golden Bears get their first taste of the Pac-12 on the young season. A loss would be devestating to the Ducks, who are hoping to get into the division race. On the flipside, Cal wants to pull the upset.
Prediction: 35-24 Oregon holds Cal off with a late push, staying within striking range, covering the -1.5
USC @ Arizona
A battle in the desert, as the Wildcats hope to one-up the Trojans and take a game-and-a-half lead in the Pac-12 South. USC will have other plans as they control their own destiny in the South.
Prediction: USC ousts the Wildcats 35-28, covering the -3.5 line.
Utah @ Washington State
Like the Trojans, Utah aims to keep control of their own destiny, while the Cougars look to bounce back against the loss versus USC. With Utah having a bye week, you’d have to think the preparation is going to be there to hold off the Cougars.
Prediction: Utah takes the game, 31-10, well covering the -1.5 line.
UCLA @ Colorado
Without a win in the Chip Kelly-era, the Baby Bruins get ready to face a Colorado side that is yet to lose. Both teams coming off bye weeks, it’s a show down between the undefeated and the winless.
Prediction: Colorado wins a close one, 24-21, failing to cover the -9.5.
Oregon State @ Arizona State
Beavers got blown out against the Wildcats, while Arizona State lost a close one to the Huskies. I’d be shocked if the Beavers put up a fight here.
Prediction: ASU wins 45-14, covering the -21.5.
