Pac-12 Week 2 CFB Rankings & Week 3 Picks:

First conference game didn’t live up to the expected hype as the Stanford Cardinal took care of business at home against the USC Trojans, while Washington took their opening loss disappointment out on North Dakota. The conference of champions is sitting with eight teams undefeated (add USC to the tally with the exclusion of conference games) while the UCLA Bruins and Arizona Wildcats are yet to win a game.

Pick wise, improved upon opening week’s 5-7 start to go 5-2, bringing it to 10-9 overall.

1] Stanford Cardinal (2-0, 1-0) —

As previously mentioned, the Cardinal put their defense on display against the Trojans, holding them to a single field goal. Cardinal will host UC Davis in Week 3, without the services of Bryce Love. Game should be a blow out to the point there isn’t a line available.

2] Washington Huskies (1-1, 0-0) +2

Winning 45-3 against North Dakota doesn’t do much in trying to show where Washington sits at this point in the season. A date at Utah will go a long way to show a sign of where the Huskies are. Huskies are a five point favorite against the Utes, which is an easy take.

3] Oregon Ducks (2-0, 0-0) —

Put up 62 on Portland State, and a meeting with San Jose State should lead to similar results. A sneaky line has the Ducks at -42, which is one I would take.

4] USC Trojans (1-1, 0-1) -2

Starting a true freshman has growing pains, and the Trojans learned that after their early season defeat to the Cardinal. JT Daniels, who could have been suiting up for the Mater Dei Monarchs has shown his potential and needs to string it together. A trip to Texas will help the young quarter back grow, and being three point dogs makes this a relatively easy pick for myself.

5] Arizona State Sun Devils (2-0, 0-0) +3

Behind a fourth quarter surge, the Devils beat 15th-ranked Michigan State Spartans as Herm Edwards gave a reason for Mill Avenue to be happy. Visiting San Diego State is tricky, as ASU may be hungover from the upset. However, at -6, it’s a relatively easy decision.

6] Utah Utes (2-0, 0-0) -1

Going into Northern Illinois and walking away with a 17-6 win was a solid result for the Utes, and will get them ready for future road trips. With Washington coming into town, and not wanting to drop to two losses, entertainment will be provided. As stated, I’m taking Washington -5 here.

7] Colorado Buffaloes (2-0, 0-0) +2

Went into Lincoln and beat the Cornhuskers of Nebraska by five, the Buffs are 2-0 in a season when many had written them off. It may be early in the year, however, with New Hampshire coming to town, Colorado should get halfway to being bowl eligible. No line for the game.

8] California Golden Bears (2-0, 0-0) -1

Held off Brigham Young by three at home, the Golden Bears should continue their hot start with Idaho State coming to town. If they don’t beat the Bengals by five scores, I’d be stunned.

9] Washington State Cougars (2-0, 0-0) -3

Cougars blanked out San Jose State, 31-0, climbing to 2- and a date against Eastern Washington should provide a similar result. It’s agreed upon in the betting world as well with no line provided.

10] Oregon State (1-1, 0-0) +2

Beavers took care of Southern Utah, netting their first win after the opening day demolishment in Ohio State. A trip to Nevada pits two sides trying to get to above .500, and I’m taking the Beavers as a three point underdog here. Feels weird to pick Oregon State.

11] UCLA Bruins (0-2, 0-0) -1

Chip Kelly’s tenure in Westwood isn’t off to the hottest start, which was too be expected as a true freshman quarter back took over the reins due to injury and the fourth-youngest team in college football has one of the toughest schedules. Fresno State coming to town is the Bruins “easiest” non-conference opponent and are three point dogs. An easy take here.

12] Arizona Wildcats (0-2, 0-0) -1

Blown out in Houston after a disappointing loss against Brigham Young, the Wildcats have an opportunity to get back on track with a date against Southern Utah, who the Oregon State Beavers demolished.

Pick Recap:

Oregon -42 vs San Jose State
Oregon State +3 @ Nevada
USC +3 vs Texas
Washington -5 @ Utah
UCLA +3 vs Fresno State
ASU -4.5 @ San Diego State
